Why we do this
A passion turned reality
Reel Addiction Sportfishing is a small, captain-run charter out of the San Francisco Bay Area, with two boats and two licensed captains, here to make forever memories on the water. For a lot of us, fishing is a much needed escape, and for some it becomes a real “Reel Addiction.” The man on our logo was a very dear friend of Captain Ben’s who passed away far too soon. He shared that same passion, and he will always be at the heart of what we do.

Questions anglers ask
How much does a fishing trip cost?
Seats are priced per angler: salmon $330, ocean halibut $300, lingcod and rockfish $330, crab combo $350, sturgeon $250 and bluefin tuna $550. You can also take the whole boat for up to six anglers, from $1,500.
How many anglers fit on a boat?
Up to six on each of our two 30-foot boats, so you are never shoulder to shoulder. Seat trips sail once four anglers are booked.
Can we charter the whole boat for our group?
Yes. Book the whole boat for up to six anglers, from $1,500 depending on the fish. It is the easiest way to fish with just your own crew.
What is included?
All the gear and tackle you need, and we clean your fish for free at the end of the day.
Where do we meet?
At the Berkeley Marina, 201 University Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94710.
What can we catch, and when?
Sturgeon from January to April (catch and release), ocean halibut from April to August, salmon in July, September and October, lingcod and rockfish in September and October, bluefin tuna on good weather days in September and October, and Dungeness crab combos in November and December. Bay shark trips run all year.
Who are the captains?
Capt. Ben Mechling and Capt. Shawn. Both hold USCG OUPV captain's licenses and are First Aid and CPR certified, and both have fished these waters for years.
